The short version: the screenrecordwindows.com app works on your PC. Your recordings, projects and exports stay there, and the app doesn’t send them, or anything about them, anywhere, unless you choose to share a video as a link: then only that video is uploaded, and it’s deleted after 7 days. This website uses no cookies and no tracking. If you write to us, we use what you send to answer you, and that’s all.
Who we are
screenrecordwindows.com (“we”, “us”) makes the screenrecordwindows.com screen recorder and runs this website. For anything in this policy, write to hello@screenrecordwindows.com.
The app
Your recordings and projects
Everything you record and edit is stored in your Windows user folder. Processing happens on your PC: capture, automatic zooms, the text recognition that finds private details to blur, 3D rendering and export. We have no copy of your recordings and no way to see them.
Input and screen information
While you record, the app notes where the pointer moves and clicks, which kind of key you press (a letter, a shortcut, an arrow and so on, never which letter), and which button or field you used, so it can place zooms and highlights. These notes are saved next to the recording on your PC and are never sent anywhere.
No analytics, no account
The app has no usage analytics, no crash reporting that sends data, and needs no account. It doesn’t contact our servers while you record or edit.
Share links
Sharing is something you choose for each video; nothing is shared automatically. When you export a video as a share link, the app uploads that video, a still image from it to use as a preview picture, and its title, length, size and resolution. Anyone who has the link can watch the video. The link and the video are deleted 7 days after you share it, and you can delete them earlier from the app at any time.
The videos are stored with Cloudflare, Inc., our storage provider, which processes them on our behalf. To stop the service being misused we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address and of a random number that identifies your installation of the app, so we can limit how many videos are shared per day. We can’t turn either back into the original. If someone reports a shared video, we store the report and may review the video.
Licence activation
When licence activation is available and you activate Pro, the app sends your licence key to our licence service to check it. Nothing about your recordings is included.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider handles your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and keep the service secure, and may keep short-lived server logs for that purpose.
When you contact us
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use them only to reply and to help you, keep them for as long as the conversation needs plus up to two years for our records, and then delete them. The contact form may be delivered by a form service that processes the message on our behalf.
Buying Pro
Payments are handled by our payment provider, which receives the details needed to take the payment. We receive your name, email address and what you bought, so we can send your licence and help with it. We never see your full card details.
Legal basis
We handle contact and purchase details, and videos you share, to provide what you asked for (performance of a contract). We answer messages and keep the share service free of abuse because we have a legitimate interest in doing so. Where the law requires us to keep records, such as for accounting, we keep them for as long as it requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete what we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Write tohello@screenrecordwindows.com and we’ll answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Norway that is Datatilsynet.
Children
screenrecordwindows.com isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we’ll say so on the site before it takes effect.
